Willy T's open at Thumper Pond

Willy T's Tavern and Grill is officially open for business at Thumper Pond in Ottertail.

July 2 marked the first day in business for Food and Beverage Director, Dave Penczek and his crew of wait staff, chefs and bartenders.

Whether it's Chilaquiles, a Bloody Mary, classic omelets with fresh home fries and toast for breakfast or one of their classic signature sandwiches, burgers, or pizzas for dinner, the American faire style grill and pub is sure to be popular among locals and tourists alike.

Everything at Willy T's derives from homemade recipes kept secret by Penczek and his staff. The flavor of their original sauces is unmatched.

Penczek spent years working for restaurants in Las Vegas before moving to the area with his wife who grew up here. Along with his passion for the restaurant and hospitality industry, he also brought with his love of beer.

"Working in the business for years taught me what's beautiful about beer," Penczek said. "My goal is to bring that here."

The bar offers draft and bottle beers, domestic as well as imports, wines, champagne and cocktails.

Willy T's offers scenic dining inside the resteraunt or outside on the patio with a view of the golf course.

They are open for breakfast lunch and dinner seven days a week.

Penczek said the goal of Willy T's is to provide a comfortable and laid back pub for locals to enjoy year round and snowbirds in the summer.

The atmosphere inside the restaurant is casual. Prices are reasonable and cater to all demographics and budgets, sticking to their model of providing reasonably priced dining and drinks for both locals and tourists.

Located off the golf course, it's hard not to draw comparisons to Caddyshack. But Penczek believes the goal should be to draw in people from all backgrounds.

"That's why we are here," Penczek said. "We want the Chevy Chases, Rodney Dangerfields and everybody else in here."

They've got that going for them, which is nice.
