One wonders if help is in Keith Hepola's blood.

After all, rearrange the letters in his last name and it's easy to find help. Finding help for fixing a home computer is also easy with this guy.

Hepola, a retired telecommunications employee, recently started a computer service business, where he offers networking and help for personal or office computers.

His business, Hepola's Computer Help, is there for a variety of services including virus elimination, networking and consulting. He comes directly to customer's homes and works primarily with those in the Perham, New York Mills, Dent and Frazee areas.

He focuses mainly on PCs and wants to help with a variety of computer needs.

"It's a full service company," he said. "I mainly go to homes so they don't have to take apart their whole system."

Hepola has a long history of work in the computer and telecommunications fields.

He grew up in Herman, Minn., and graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in computer science in 1983. He worked for 26 years in the Chicago area for Alcatel-Lucent, formerly AT&T Technologies.

His family is from the New York Mills area and he "missed the winters" in Minnesota, he said, which brought him back to Minnesota.

For his new company, he offers flexible work hours, and is available on evenings and weekends.

Hepola charges $30 per hour for his services. There is an initial charge of $10 to cover travel costs, but Hepola says he won't charge any more than the $10 if he can't fix the problem.

"I'm there to help with any needs or questions, even answering basic questions," he said.
