Linda Salo has taken her hobby of antiquing to a whole new level.

She has recently opened a store called LuLu's Picks, located in the same building as Signs Plus and Norton's Printing on South Main in New York Mills.

In an interview at her shop last week, Salo said the name of the store came from a long-time nickname she's had.

The business suits Salo, allowing her to utilize her love of decorating while addressing her pet peeve of useful stuff getting thrown away. She loves scrounging around at auctions and garage sales, finding merchandise she can give new life to.

In her store, there's a clock made into a table, glassware and humorous signs. She also sells gourmet food and coffee, alongside candles and old-fashioned chairs. There are scarves, purses and printed shirts. It's a full shop, with a lot of variety.

Salo also works full time for Real Estate Results in Perham. Her sister, Vicky Olson, owns Signs Plus and they work together to keep the store staffed.

LuLu's Picks is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday by appointment.

Salo is excited to join the ranks of other gift shops in NY Mills, knowing what she offers is just a little bit different.
