The Otter Tail County Recycling Redemption Center in Perham, located next to the Resource Recovery Facility, is closing effective May 1.

It was necessary to move the redemption center due to the expansion of the Resource Recovery Facility beginning this spring.

“Closing the redemption center was a tough decision,” said Otter Tail County Recycling manager Rick Denzel.

The blue recycling canisters at the redemption center will be moved to an area just past the Perham Community Food Shelf, located at 501 4th Ave. NW. All recyclables that were accepted at the redemption center can go in these canisters at the food shelf.

Materials accepted at the canisters are tin and aluminum cans, newspaper, plastic bottles (numbers 1 and 2 must have a neck or spout), glass and corrugated cardboard.

The Fergus Falls and Pelican Rapids Recycling Redemption Centers will remain open for residents to redeem their aluminum cans. Aluminum cans may also be redeemed at most scrap metal dealers.
