Joanie Galbrecht has been chosen as this year’s Provider of the Year by the East Otter Tail County Child Care Association.

Galbrecht has owned and operated Joanie’s Daycare for 12 years. The daycare is located on 12 acres of land about two miles north of Perham on County Highway 51.

Her family includes her husband, Ron, and their two daughters, Kristina and Megan.

Galbrecht is active in the local childcare association and has held several offices within it. She also is active in the Perham Area Girl Scouts, girls’ high school swim boosters, and the LAPS swim board.

“What makes my daycare unique is my big yard so the kids can ride bike, play kick-ball and just run,” Galbrecht said. “During the winter, I bring in some of the bikes and tricycles for the kids to ride in the basement. We use the hill for our walk-out basement as a sliding hill in the winter. We go on yearly daycare trips to the zoo, circus, turtle races, parks and a local dairy barn.”

Galbrecht credits her success to her family and the daycare families she has had over the years.
