Dr. Brooke Hamann, of Hamann Family Dentistry, recently completed her annual training with the Minnesota State Emergency Response Team in Minneapolis. Currently, Dr. Hamann is one of the only dentists from greater Minnesota on the team. She works with Dr. Ann L. Norrlander, an odontologist or forensic dentist.

"Forensic dentistry is the proper handling, examination and evaluation of dental evidence, which will then be presented in the interest of justice." The evidence that is obtained from the teeth is the age (in children) and identification of the person to whom the teeth belong. This team is in place to examine evidence on deceased individuals and in case of a mass fatality incident occurring in Minnesota.

She completed her training at the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Facility in downtown Minneapolis. Topics discussed included the Jacob Wetterling Case: Recovery and identification and the Super Bowl — 2018, being held at the Minnesota Vikings Stadium in the Twin Cities: emergency procedures the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office will prepare and execute if necessary.
