Hinz to speak at St. Paul Lutheran Sept. 16

Rev. Fredric Hinz will speak at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Perham at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 regarding a turnaround in the freedom to exercise Christian faith.

Hinz, the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) Public Policy Advocate in Minnesota, is expected to explain details of the turnaround and suggest ways of moving the trend in religious freedom forward.

The turnaround started in June 2017 when the Supreme Court of the United States reversed and remanded by a 7-2 vote a holding by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, which denied grants to any applicant owned or controlled by a church, sect or other religious entity. Opposing the holding was the Trinity Lutheran Church of Columbia, Mo.

More SCOTUS decisions favorable to religious freedom have followed.
