Northwoods Assembly to host Hot Rod Sunday

Northwoods Assembly in Perham will be hosting its annual Hot Rod Sunday car show and ministry event this Sunday, Aug. 12 at 10 a.m.

The public is invited to come and find out just what faith and racing have to do with each other.

On any given Sunday, many people make their way to a local racetrack or sit and watch Nascar or Drag Racing on television. Hot Rod Sunday is designed to show people how faith plays a very important part in the lives of racers and their families.

Pastor Dirk Currier of Northwoods Assembly also serves as a chaplain for Racers for Christ. Each year, the church hosts Hot Rod Sunday as both a community event and a resting area for race teams headed to Brainerd, Minn., for the annual Lucas Oil National event, held the following weekend.

The theme of this year's event is, "Preventative Maintenance." Northwoods members will be talking with people and giving away prizes, including two 43" flat screen TVs, manicures, pedicures, oil changes, Thumper Pond water park passes, four VIP tickets to the races in Brainerd, hats, shirts and much more.

There will be a car show, hamburgers, hot dogs, bouncy houses, paintball games and more, following a service.

The drawings for prizes will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a burnout contest.
