2010 census shows slight growth in East Otter Tail County
The results of the 2010 census released last week show just a small increase in the population of area cities in East Otter Tail County.
Of regional cities, Perham saw the largest increase - of 426, from 2,559 in 2000 to 2,985 in 2010. Most other cities in East Otter Tail County also showed growth, as Battle Lake increased 189, from 686 to 875; Henning increased from 719 to 802; Ottertail increased from 451 to 572 and Vergas increased from 311 to 331. New York Mills saw an increase of only 41, from 1,158 to 1,199.
Overall, the county saw an overall gain of only 144 people, falling on the list of Minnesota's most populous counties from 13th place to 17th. This increase is down compared to the period between 1990 and 2000, when the county's population increased by 12 percent.
