2014 Think-Off question revealed
The Great American Think-Off has released its philosophy question for 2014: “Love or fear: Which motivates us more?”
The think-off is a civil public debate on timely issues, sponsored annually for the last 22 years by the Cultural Center in New York Mills.
People of all ages are encouraged to take part in the debate. To be considered, submit a 750-word essay making your best argument about whether love or fear motivates us more.
Essays may be submitted by mail to: Think-Off, PO Box 246, New York Mills, MN 56567; or online at www.think-off.org. There is no fee. Deadline for submission is April 1.
Essays should be grounded in the writer’s personal experience, not in philosophical abstraction. Four finalists will be selected to debate the question live in New York Mills, with travel costs, food, and lodging covered.
Finalists will be notified by May 1. This year’s debate will be held on June 14.
