PEQUOT LAKES, Minn. - A 21-year-old woman suffered severe lacerations to her leg after a boat ran over her Saturday on Whitefish Lake, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office reported.


Maria Nerness of Greenwood fell off the front of an inboard boat driven by Thomas Ryan, 24, Denver. Nerness suffered severe lacerations to her leg after the boat ran over her. North Memorial Air Care transported Nerness to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. She was in critical condition Monday.

Ryan was arrested on suspicion of boating under the influence. The incident, reported about 6:30 p.m. Saturday, is still under investigation.

Whitefish Lake is about 30 miles north of Brainerd in north-central Minnesota.
