3 'not guilty' pleas in Perham high-speed chase case
Eduardo Garcia, 34, pleaded not guilty Jan. 23 to three felony charges stemming from a high-speed chase earlier this month.
The Perham man is facing one felony charge for fleeing a peace officer and two charges for DWI.
According to the court complaint, Garcia allegedly took police on an early morning chase Jan. 8, which resulted in a one-vehicle accident involving Garcia.
Law enforcement's involvement with Garcia's activity started the night of Jan. 7 when a woman called to complain that she had jumped out of Garcia's vehicle after he allegedly would not drop her off at home.
A gas station attendant called later to say Garcia walked out of the store with a 12-pack of beer.
The next morning, Garcia allegedly returned to that same store. When attempting to leave, law enforcement pursued Garcia, who then allegedly led them at speeds of up to 80 mph.
The chase ended on 435th Street, where Garcia crashed his vehicle. He told officers he had consumed a case of beer, according to the complaint.
Garcia is set to appear before a jury April 17 in Otter Tail County Court.
