The Ottertail Business Person's Association is busy preparing for the 5th annual "Smokin' Iron Truck and Tractor Pull."
Plans are underway for yet another event, one that promises to be bigger, better, and louder than ever before, according to organizers.
Something new this year is a later date for the pull. Rather than its usual late May or early June pull, Smokin' Iron has been moved to June 15 -16.
With this change in date, more than 80 pullers are expected to compete, making 2007 the biggest event ever.
"It's hard to believe this is the 5th year already," said Chariman Terry Wagenman, "but we're working harder than ever to make sure this is the best one yet!"
Wagenman went on to explain, "We are very fortunate to have so many people volunteering their time year after year, to help us put on a great show. We are also very appreciative of the fans that keep coming to the event."
Also new to 2007 is a brand new class. Get set for Grand National Heavy Super Stock Diesels. And, the Grand National Minis will be back this year.
Yet another addition to the 2007 event is a gun raffle: 25 guns will be raffled, and only 1,500 tickets will be sold.
VIP tickets are now on sale. This is the first year VIP tickets have been available for purchase. The cost is $100. The VIP ticket is good for both night's gate admission, special VIP seating, and VIP food and beverage. Only 100 will be sold. They are available on the website at www.smokiniron.com or by calling 218-367-3092.
Season passes will also be available for the first time in 2007. Season gate passes will sell for $26 and will be available through Friday evening, June 15. Ticket prices for single days in 2007 will be $14 in advance and $15 at the gate.
More than $50,000 in prize money will be awarded at this year's event.
