763 kids get backpacks through Stuff the Bus
Volunteers came together from all around Otter Tail County on Aug. 7 to accept donations of school supplies for the annual Stuff the Bus campaign.
The goal of this program is to ensure that as many children in the county as possible can start off their school year feeling prepared and determined to learn, as well as ease the burden on families who are struggling financially.
Once again, the campaign was a success - 763 children received backpacks filled with school supplies for the start of the school year.
The breakdown of children served: Fergus Falls, 238; Perham, 138; Pelican Rapids, 117; Underwood, 51; Battle Lake, 52; New York Mills, 53; Parkers Prairie, 50; Henning, 14; Wadena, 5; Children residing outside of the county but attending school here, 45
The Stuff the Bus campaign is made possible through collaboration between the Battle Lake School District, Kinship of the Perham Area, Mahube-Otwa Community Action Council, Parkers Prairie School District, Pelican Rapids School District, The Salvation Army, Underwood School District, United Way of Otter Tail County and volunteer coordinator Angela Fiedler.
