The Countryside/Hi-10 leagues won their third consecutive All-Star game with an 8-6 victory over the Land & Pine League Friday night in Dent.
Trailing 3-0, the Countryside/Hi-10 got on the board in the top of the fifth with a two-run double by Matt Richter of the Dent Wildcats, scoring Nathan Haase of Hawley and Jordan Vaughn of New York Mills.
The locals took their first lead of the game with a four-run sixth. Garrett Dahlgren of Vergas singled to lead off the inning, Michael Riewer of Bertha walked and one out later, Mike Baune of New York Mills grounded into a fielder's choice with Riewer beating the force play at second. With the bases loaded, Jamie Gaarsland of the Dent Bulldogs was hit by a pitch to force in a run.
The Lake & Pine got a pop up to second for the second out of the inning, but then three consecutive walks to Jeff Ronning of the Dent Wildcats, Richter and Phil of the Detroit Lakes Angels plated three runs and made the score 6-3.
The Countryside Hi-10 added a run in the top of the seventh inning. Kyle Schrupp of Vergas drew a one-out walk and Baune followed with a single. A Lake & Pine error loaded the bases for Ronning who walked once again for his second RBI of the game.
After the Lake & Pine scored two in the bottom of the seventh and one more in the eighth to trim the lead to 7-6, the Countryside/Hi-10 got an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Haase was hit by a pitch to start the inning, Ronning beat out an infield hit and Phil Doll of Detroit Lakes delivered a one out single to bring in the final run of the contest.
