Ann Smalley Jordan, 97, of Fergus Falls and Marine on St. Croix, Minn., passed away on Nov. 14, 2012.
Ann was born in Perham on March 22, 1915. In World War II, she served as a medical nurse in the Pacific and was awarded a Bronze Star. She returned to Otter Tail County to work as a public health nurse. Ann's signature accomplishment was in trailblazing new practices for the care and treatment of children with disabilities, which heavily influenced state standards.
In retirement, she volunteered extensively for the Otter Tail Historical Society where, with her love of history, she aided local communities and families to uncover their pasts. Ann's love of life was evident in her passion for her cabin, canoeing on the St. Croix, travel, and her strong relation-ships with people of all ages. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who deeply loved and admired her strong will and character.
Preceding Ann in death was her only son, Lorin; siblings, Harvey Smalley and Mary Thornton; and parents, Harvey and Mabel Smalley.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Marvel Jordan; grandchildren, Chris (Jessie), Heather and Lisa; two great-grandchildren; and many loved ones.
Memorial services have been held.
