The Perham Area Public Library will host the second of three art history programs on Monday, March 14 from 7-8:30 p.m. when artist and art educator Lorene McIntosh explores the history and influence of Renaissance art.
The free program is part of the "Bluestocking Salon" series offered for adults and teens in the coming months at the library. The series concludes with a discussion on Impressionism on Monday, April 11. The program is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage fund and is sponsored by the Viking Library System, the Perham Area Public Library and the Kaddatz Galleries.
The "Bluestocking Salon: Art History for Real People" series welcomes people from all levels of knowledge of art and art history. In addition to visual images of art from the time period and audience discussion, each program will feature the work of a regional artist whose style is influenced by the time period presented.
When feasible, McIntosh will visit a local school on the day of her library program to offer related arts education and activities to students.
Other libraries hosting the series on different dates are Douglas County Library in Alexandria, Fergus Falls Public Library, Morris Public Library and Wheaton Community Library.
The Perham Area Public Library is located at 225 Second Ave. NE. Registration is requested by calling the library at 218-346-4892. For more information about the series, locations and dates, contact Gail Nordstrom at 218-739-5286.
