Rural Perham murder: Pipe wrench reportedly used in brutal killing of mother, son




Arthur Alvarez, 84, of Richville, died August 22, 2014 in his home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 27 at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Cemetery with Father George Michael officiating.

Arthur Frank Alvarez was born September 22, 1929 in Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Lawrence and Josephine (Ariola) Alvarez. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Los Angeles in 1949 and joined the Army National Guard. He was activated in 1950 and stationed in Japan with occupational forces and was honorably discharged in 1953. Arthur worked for National Auto Glass in Los Angeles for 18 years and also worked for L.A. County as a safety police officer for 25 years. He retired as a supervisor (SGT) in 1994. Arthur enjoyed fishing, visiting casinos, collecting Hot Wheels and watching football and baseball.

Surviving Arthur is his wife, Mary; his children: Constantino (Vicki) Alvarez of Estherville, Iowa and Nancy (Bernie) Evans of St. Joseph, Minn.; his grandchildren: Constantino Alvarez Jr., Christian Alvarez Jr., Eric Evans and Kimberly Evans; his great-grandchildren: Brittany, Anthony, Selena, Anessa, Taylor, Rhiannon and Margeaux; his step-grandchildren: Ember and Devon; and his sister, Dora Poe of Kingman, Ariz.

Preceding Arthur in death are his parents and his brothers: Rudy, Lawrence, Oscar and Richard.
