Twin Cities-based artists Laura Andrews, Suzanne Murphy, Heather Humbert (Price), Jennifer Totoritis-Searl and Brian Jorgenson will be at the cultural center to greet and talk with friends, family and art lovers from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8. Refreshments will be served and everyone is invited to attend. The reception is in place of the originally scheduled reception, which was snowed out last month. This will be the last opportunity to see all the work by these artists in this exhibit.

Wadena-based artist Kent Scheer will curate the next exhibit at the cultural center. Scheer first discovered the genre know as Small Format Art (SFA) during the winter of 2010. Usually these works are executed within a 2.5-inch by 3.5-inch frame, but work routinely and religiously kept within that exact scale is also called artist trading cards or ACEOs.

Due to its unique affordability, Scheer built up a collection of more than 100 works by U.S. and international artists within the span of one year. One artist in particular stood out as a source of fresh creativity: Patti Klages from St. Louis.

Klages sells work over the Internet which is sharp- edged and brightly graphic to the point of being cartoonish. But, she also devoted a part of her output to abstract flowers and still life works. The cultural center will be filled with her ACEOs in an exhibit called "Patti's Floralegium" from Feb. 5 through March 26.

Scheer will also display a small selection of his abstract floral sculptures and whimsical sculptures from recycled copper, brass and aluminum at the same time.
