Attempt to pass plow leads to crash

A driver attempting to pass an Otter Tail County plow truck in a no-passing zone contributed to a two-vehicle accident near Parkers Prairie last week.

According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department, Kyle Hendershot, 29, of Eagle Bend, violated the law when he tried to pass the plow.

Traveling eastbound on Highway 46, Hendershot slid on the icy road and lost control of his vehicle. McKenzie Sigfrid, 17, of Parkers Prairie, was westbound and swerved in an attempt to avoid Hendershot's vehicle.

The two vehicles collided and entered the ditch on the north side of the highway.

No injuries were reported. The mishap took place at 9:09 a.m. on Jan. 31.

Hendershot was cited for unsafe passing.
