Babe Ruth 14-15's remain undefeated

Head Coach Tim Kupfer had to juggle a few pitchers but the formula remained the same for the NY Mills Babe Ruth 14-15's, who outscored Menahga 16-4 in two games to remain undefeated.

VFW baseball rules only allow pitchers to throw seven innings per week and having already played games, other players had to take over mound duties.

Adam Patron and Daniel Kraft combined to shut down the Braves in a 3-0 game one shutout.

The duo allowed only one hit, walked none and struck out two.

The typically high-powered NY Mills offense was held in check by Menahga starter Shawn Roth, who threw four innings, allowing three runs, all unearned, fanning five and walking two.

Austin Erickson scored the eventual game-winner in the first inning. He reached on a single, stole second, took third on a past ball and scored on an error by Braves third baseman Brandon Junes.

Brandon Kupfer would stretch a single into a three-bagger after the right fielder booted his base hit. He would score on an error by the shortstop.

Nick Kupfer singled in the fourth, took second on another boot in right, reached third on a past ball and was driven home by Max Carlson's fielder's choice for the third and final run.

NY Mills 13, Menahga 4

The Braves came out hot after the opening game loss scoring four in the first inning of game two.

Menahga roughed up NY Mills starter Brandon Kupfer early, batting around, scoring their four runs on three hits and three walks.

Kupfer would control the damage striking out leadoff hitter Roth to end the first inning with the bases loaded.

Kupfer, along with Erickson and Tyler Patron kept the Braves off the scoreboard the remainder of the game.

Taylor Ericksrud would score the only run of the first for NY Mills and it looked like they were in for a dogfight, until the bottom of the second inning, when NY Mills scored seven runs and put the game away. They would add four insurance runs in the fourth inning for the 13-4 win.

Brandon Kupfer and Tyler Patron combined for seven RBI.
