Bach awarded wide array of scholarships
Jonathan Bach, son of Gary and Laurie Bach of New York Mills, was awarded several scholarships to pursue his engineering studies. Bach is a senior Civil Engineering student at the University of North Dakota.
Among the scholarships awarded to Bach are a full tuition scholarship from the Associated General Contractors of North Dakota; a $1,000 scholarship from the Black Hills Chapter of Explosive Engineers; and a $2,000 scholarship from the North Dakota Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
Bach was also awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the University of North Dakota for the 2009-10 school year.
In addition, Bach was honored as the first recipient of the Associated General Contractors of North Dakota's Undergraduate Scholarship and was awarded $2,500 for his final academic year at the University of North Dakota, beginning fall 2009.
The full tuition scholarship Bach received from the Associated General Contractors of North Dakota is for the 2009-10 academic year. This John Jardine Memorial/Cretex Concrete Products West, Inc. Scholarship is awarded in recognition of John Jardine's efforts in the establishment of engineering and science scholarships throughout North Dakota.
The North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers also honored Bach with the 2008-09 NDSPE Outstanding Student Award. The award was presented by Dr. Harvey Gullicks, Civil Engineering faculty.
NDSPE annually presents the Outstanding Student Award to a deserving student from each academic class of the entire UND School of Engineering and Mines.
The award is based on character, service, and academic achievement. High achievement in these areas is consistent with the mandate of NDSPE to promote the ethical and competent practice of engineering for the benefit of society, and high academic and personal achievement of all engineers.
NDSPE is the state affiliate organization of the National Society of Professional Engineers, which is the only professional society that advocates for the entire engineering profession. It is the mission of NSPE to promote the ethical and competent practice of engineering.
NSPE also encourages professional licensure of engineers, and it actively lobbies for state and federal legislation that enhances the status of engineers, and the image and professionalism of engineering professional licensure of engineers.
