'Be creative at your library': Programs scheduled at Perham library this summer

Studies show that students who don't read over the summer are less prepared for school success in the fall.

The Perham Area Public Library makes summer reading more fun with the 2009 Summer Reading Program, "Be Creative @ Your Library."

Explore the worlds of music, dance, art, books and more through this program that is open to young people, pre-school through eighth grade. Programs, prize drawings, story hours, reading clubs and so much more will be in full swing throughout the months of June and July. Keep in mind the upcoming line-up of our special Tuesday Talent programs for the summer:

-Tuesday, June 23, 2:00: In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre (of Minneapolis via Fergus Falls' A Center for the Arts)

-Tuesday, June 30, 2:00: Get Creative! Minnesota 4-H

-Wednesday, July 8, 2:00: Ventriloquist James Wedgewood (funded by a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council through a Minnesota State Legislative appropriation)

-Tuesday, July 14, 2:00: Kreativity With Kulcher! New York Mills Cultural Center (pre-registration requested)

-Tuesday, July 21, 2:00: Bug Barns! Minnesota Extension and Marjorie Wegscheid (pre-registration requested)

-Tuesday, July 28, 2:00: Imagination Collage! With artist Carmen McCullough (pre-registration requested)
