Clues to the whereabouts of the two hidden eggs, which will be placed on Feb. 22, haven't been revealed--yet. But odds are that the Perham Area Community Center is a likely spot, where the annual trade show will be hosted 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Throughout the year, "Mr. Turtle" will be hiding "Official Turtle Fest Eggs" somewhere in Perham. The prize for the person who finds the hidden egg is $20 in "Perham Bucks."

No clues will be given at first, said Perham Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dan Schroeder, but if the egg doesn't come into the Chamber office within a reasonable amount of time "we will put a clue on the www.perham.com website on the Turtle Fest page. We will also list the date when an egg was hidden on the website."

The year-long promotion will encourage folks to keep their eyes open, and also serve as a reminder of the community's "Turtle Fest" summer celebration, June 18-22.

The first hidden egg was found several weeks ago. "Mr. Turtle" informed us that the egg was found on Main Street, on a plant rack outside of Hair Haven, reported Schroeder.

The lucky winner was Sandy Waldon of Perham, who stumbled upon it January 30, and turned it into the Chamber office to claim her prize.

Turtle Fest plans are well underway, and new this year is the official "2008 Turtle Fest Button," which will be available in May. The $1 button will entitle you to discounts and special offers throughout the four days of Turtle Fest.

Buttons will be on sale at the Chamber and participating businesses.

The button qualifies for drawings for Perham Bucks.

A coloring/name the Turtle Fest mascot contest is also being planned this year. The mascot, above, was designed by Greenspire Graphics.
