Belar hired at Wadena County Historical Society
Lina Belar has been hired as the new interim executive director of the Wadena County Historical Society, effective as of July 9.
Belar, who retired last December after 15 years in the field, was the founder and executive director of the History Museum of East Otter Tail County and the ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham. She writes a regular history column for the Perham Focus newspaper.
During her tenure with the Wadena County Historical Society, Belar will focus primarily on programming, publicity and grant writing.
Over the next several months, people can expect to hear more about the historical society, a largely volunteer organization that has worked to preserve local history.
Belar said she is very impressed with the resources that the historical society has preserved for the county. There is an extensive family research library at the museum, much of which can be credited to the tireless volunteer work of Robert Zosel.
Belar expects to be at the museum most afternoons from 1-5 p.m. and hopes that people will feel free to stop by and say hello. A ‘meet and greet’ will take place Wednesday, July 24 from 5-7 p.m.
