Bemidji State hockey remains in top 10
The Bemidji State University men's ice hockey team is ranked No. 8 in the Monday editions of the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Top 15 Poll and U.S. College Hockey Online/CBS College Sports Top 20.
The Beavers have now made an appearance in every poll this season finding their way into the top 10 in both major polls for the second consecutive week.
Bemidji State is coming off a nonconference series split with the University of Minnesota. The Beavers dropped the first game 4-1, getting only an unassisted goal from freshman Jordan George, but bounced back for a 6-2 rout of the Golden Gophers in the series finale as Jamie MacQueen netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner.
Despite dropping their first game of the season, the performance at Minnesota earned the Beavers a school-record 271 points and the No. 8 slot in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll.
Miami University, BSU's Frozen Four opponent last spring, holds down the top spot for the seventh consecutive week, with 507 points, pulling down 31 of the 34 first-place votes.
Momentum also continues to build for Bemidji State in the USCHO.com poll. For the fourth consecutive week, BSU received a school-record point total, ranked No. 8 with 658 points in that publication's ranking.
Miami-Ohio also holds down No. 1 according to USCHO.com. This is the seventh consecutive week BSU has been ranked among U.S. College Hockey Online's top 20.
The Beavers (8-1-1; 4-0-0) jump back into College Hockey America play this weekend as they host the University of Alabama-Huntsville for the Charger's only trip to the Glas this season. The series is set to begin Friday at 7:35 p.m. with the finale scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. opening face off Saturday.
