Don’t call them Boy Scouts anymore. In a Court of Honor ceremony on March 23, Alex Wegscheid and Luke Potts were officially awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

Both of the Perham area boys earned the rank after completing service projects that directly benefited military veterans.

Potts will be leaving for U.S. Army basic training at Fort Benning in Georgia this May, followed by Infantry AIT, and then Airborne and Ranger schools.

Wegscheid will be attending school in Thief River Falls, Minn., with a focus on computer sciences.

At their court of honor, the boys collected donations for the Perham Community Food Shelf, totaling 87 pounds of food and $185.
