Boys Basketball: Jackets even record with blowout victory at Staples-Motley


STAPLES -- The Perham boys basketball team evened their record at 1-1 with a 90-61 victory on the road over the Staples-Motley Cardinals Tuesday evening.


Hunter Salathe scored 16 points, Eli Beachy added 15 and Sam Muer scored a dozen to lead the Yellowjackets.

Perham put up a comfortable 30-point lead at the break up 54-24.

The game was the first of the season for the Cardinals. Jalen Busker (15), Colton Borders (11) and Kyle Jannsson (10) all scored in double figures.

11 Yellowjackets scored in the game, including Jordan Hein, who had seven points in his season debut.

After suffering shooting woes in the season opening loss to Minnehaha Academy, Perham got back on track shooting 29-50 from the field (58 percent).

Perham remains on the road and will play at Crookston Friday, Dec. 7. The Pirates are 1-0 after a 63-55 victory at home over Park Rapids Area.
