Boys Basketball: Jackets pour it on early in win over Patriots

PEQUOT LAKES -- The Perham boys basketball team picked up their 20th victory of the season pounding section foe Pequot Lakes 61-36 Tuesday evening.

The Yellowjackets held the Patriots to just nine first half points leading by a 24-point margin at the break 33-9.

The two teams met in last year's section semi-final in Park Rapids with Perham eliminating Pequot Lakes 64-48.

No Patriot shooters scored in double figures. Logan Lange and Jordan Redmond each had nine points.

Mark Schumacher led all scorers with 17 points shooting 8-10 from the field.

Jordan Cresap scored 14 sinking four threes. Jordan Anderson added a dozen.

Perham shot a ripe 61 percent from the field going 24-39.

Pequot Lakes struggled shooting only 28 percent (12-43).

Perham also won the turnover battle forcing 22 Patriot miscues while giving the ball up 13 times.

Perham is 20-2 on the season and will wrap up Heart O' Lakes play versus Barnesville Thursday. A win clinches a tie of the HOL title with Pelican Rapids.

The Vikings will also face Barnesville to clinch the conference tie. The two teams meet next Tuesday, Feb. 28.
