Boys CC team earns State GPA award

The Perham boys cross country team had the highest grade point average (GPA) in the State of Minnesota in Class A and Class AA in the 2008-09 school year.

The boys had a combined GPA of 3.986. Second place went to St. Thomas Academy and Edina (3.98) with fourth place going to St. Francis (3.97).

The Lady Jackets finished 30th in Class A and AA combined with a 3.93 GPA.

Practice starts Aug. 17

Grades 7-12 boys and girls cross country will start practice from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17. Runners should meet at the North (5th Street) entry of the High School.

Both boys and girls teams are coming off second places finishes at State, with the boys going after a third state title and eighth consecutive state meet appearance, while the girls are running after a first state title and a sixth straight state meet appearance.

All new runners are welcome and encouraged to come out for the team.
