Boys Golf: Perham second at WCA Invite

ELBOW LAKE — Jordan Bruns of West Central Area fired a 76, three shots better than Hawley’s Cody Cook and eight shots below a third place round of 84 by Perham’s Nick Bahls, to take Medalist honors at the Heart O’ Lakes Conference boys golf meet at Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course Thursday.

Hawley won the team competition besting Perham by a dozen strokes 334-346. Barnesville was third with a combined score of 353, followed by WCA 360, Breckenridge 390, D-G-F 391, Frazee 405, and Pelican Rapids 408.

Nick Kalina finished in a three-way tie for fourth place carding an 85, along with Hawley’s Jay Lura and Cody Curry to round out the top six individual finishers.

Other Perham scores were Matt Hanson 87, Blake Kunza and Eric Huus 90, and Nate Bormann 91.

The Perham boys golf team’s schedule is packed next week with three meets in four days, including back-to-back nine hole meets on Monday, May 6 at Frazee and Tuesday, May 7 at Pelican Rapids, followed by an 18-hole home meet at Perham Lakeside Golf Club Thursday, May 9.
