Boys Hoops: Big second half leads Perham to a 64-40 victory

BRECKENRIDGE — Perham's starting five all scored in double digits as No. 1-AA Perham evened their Heart O' Lakes Conference record at 1-1 with a 64-40 road win at Breckenridge Tuesday evening.


Eli Beachy and Hunter Salathe led Perham with 13 points each. Tyler Glines scored 12 points and pulled in a team-high eight rebounds. Sam Muer and Nick Bahls each had 11 points. Muer had seven rebounds.

Perham led 26-19 at halftime but outscored the Cowboys 38-21 in the second half to pull away pushing a seven-point spread at the break to 24 points by game's end.

Breckenridge is winless on the season at 0-5 and 0-3 in the HOL with previous losses at Hawley and Barnesville. Perham improves to 6-1 overall.

The Perham junior varsity and C-team made it a sweep for the Yellowjackets Tuesday. The JV won 53-41. The C-team won 60-36. For more information on those games, visit

Perham returns home for a weekend doubleheader Friday night at 7:30 p.m. versus Barnesville and Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. versus No. 6-A Battle Lake. The Minnesota Timberwolves' mascot Crunch will be at the Barnesville game Friday night.

State basketball rankings will be updated Wednesday, Dec. 18, in which Perham should remain in the top 10 but certainly will drop from the top spot.
