Joshua Gene Ard, 25, and Jeremiah Elwin Ard, 27, both of Dent, were charged with felony assault of a peace officer after a fight broke out June 6 outside a Perham bar.

According to the criminal complaint, the fight started after Perham and Henning police responded to Suds around 2:30 a.m., where they witnessed a fight.

The officer approached the crowd and told the men to stop fighting, at which time Joshua allegedly hit a man in the crowd. Police attempted to restrain Ard, but were distracted by Jeremiah, who was involved in the brawl.

Officers attempted to handcuff Jeremiah, but were allegedly attacked by two females.

In the midst of the chaos, Jeremiah broke free and allegedly punched the Henning officer in the face. Joshua approached the same officer, told him to stay back, grabbed him by the neck and shoulder and pulled him to the ground, according to the criminal complaint.

The officer suffered minor injuries, including abrasions to the left side of his head. His right arm and left knee were also scraped up.

A court date for Jeremiah has been set for Oct. 25. Joshua's court date has not yet been set.
