Celebration for Interchange project scheduled for Tuesday
The public is invited to attend a celebration marking the completion of new interchange ramps at Highway 10 and County Road 34 near Perham. The event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Perham Health.
The interchange project was constructed as the result of a public/private partnership through the Transportation Economic Development program, a competitive grant program available to communities for highway improvement and public infrastructure projects that create jobs and support economic development.
TED is funded by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development. Local matches were provided by the City of Perham, Otter Tail County and private donations.
Speakers from MnDOT, DEED and other project participants will be on hand at the celebration event.
In addition to the construction jobs required to build the interchange, the project will support an estimated 240 permanent, well-paying jobs at nearby businesses. The economic development provided by these jobs will support continued growth in Perham and Otter Tail County.
The entrance and exit ramps opened ahead of schedule on Aug. 31. The project also included improvements to County Road 34 and a bicycle and pedestrian trail.
The improvements have enhanced access to the city of Perham and improved safety for all modes of transportation.
