Former Graceville, Minn., resident Charlene L. "Charlie" Gray, 52, of Osage, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, December 24, 2007.
Charlene Lynn Gray was born to Jim and Edna (Geyer) Gray on Dec. 29, 1954 in Graceville, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Collis, Minn. As a young girl, she attended the Holy Rosary Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Graceville Public High School in May 1972. Charlie went on to attend the University of Minnesota-Morris, where she earned a degree in sociology. She ventured west and made her home in the beauty of Idaho for several years.
In 1990, Charlie moved to a farm near Snellman, Minn., where she bred and raised wolf dogs and other exotic animals right up until the date of her untimely death.
Charlie's love for God was her greatest treasure. She also loved all animals, her Irish heritage, dancing, music, gardening, reading and wild flowers. Charlie had a heart full of compassion and mercy. She loved travel and adventure and had toured through Europe and had also visited the Holy Lands twice, living there for a time.
Charlie will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Jim and Edna Gray of Graceville; her four siblings, Greg (Debra) Gray of Park Rapids, Brian (Kathy) Gray of Park Rapids, Correen (Lyle) Pederson of Dumont, Minn., and Susan (Tom) Vanderwaal of Park Rapids; as well as l6 nieces and nephews and 30 great nieces and nephews.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 31, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Park Rapids, with the Rev. Dennis Wieland officiating. The honorary casket bearers were her nieces, nephews and special friends. Interment will be made in the Lakeside Cemetery at Graceville. Arrangements were under the direction of the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids.
