Charles E. "Chuck" Mahar, 42, of Callaway, died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at St. Mary's-Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes.
Charles Elliott Mahar, known as Chuck, was born to Clifford "Skip" and Earlene (Cook) Mahar on Aug. 13, 1965 in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was raised in the Perley, Minn., area and was a 1984 graduate of Norman County West High School. While in high school he was an All-State half-back on the football team, ran in track and played basketball. He attended Valley City State College for a year where he was the half-back on the football team.
Chuck then attended Fargo Aerotech in Fargo from 1985-87. He worked as an automobile technician for Dave's Amoco in Fargo and later worked as a sheet metal fabricator for Paschke Plumbing and Heating in Fargo. From 1998 until the time of his death, he lived in Callaway and worked for Modern Heating and Plumbing in Detroit Lakes.
Chuck married Earlene Edgell on June 7, 2008 in Callaway.
Surviving Chuck are his wife, Earlene Mahar of Callaway; his father, Clifford "Skip" Mahar, also of Callaway; a brother, Steve Mahar of Detroit Lakes; and two nieces. His mother, Earlene, preceded him in death.
Funeral services are scheduled for 5:10 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with Michael Ziemer officiating. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
