Charlotte "Corky" Ann Rognstad

Charlotte "Corky" Ann Rognstad, 80, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, in Granite Falls, following a battle against cancer.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1928 in Nora Springs, Iowa to Frank and Mary Jane (Curphey) Dunham. She attended Park Rapids public schools and graduated in 1946.

On June 27, 1948 she married Morrie Rognstad. They had four children.

She worked for a number of years at Munsingwear in Park Rapids. Later, she and her husband owned and operated Morrie's Bait and Ice Company in Park Rapids.

She served her community as a senior companion for a number of years and as a member of the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post Auxiliary 212.

She is survived by three daughters: Denise (Tim) Crowley, of Granite Falls, Deb (Michael) Henrion, of Alexandria, and Sandra (Dave) Rognstad, of Park Rapids; a son: Rex, of Buffalo; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband in April of 2002; three sisters: Marguerite, Mona and Mildred; and three brothers: Fred, Jack and Mike.

Honorary casket bearers: Her grandchildren: Jamie and Katie Pickett, Stacey Offerdahl, Kinsey and Alec Rognstad, Ryan, Symantha and Maddison Massie, and Rachel Crowley; and her great-grandchildren: Megan, Allison and Peyton Offerdahl, Cain, Marley and Bennett Mitchell, and Destiny and Jordan Massie.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. today (Wednesday), Jan. 14 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, with the Rev. Steven Bruer officiating. Music includes: "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "On Eagles Wings" and "The Green Green Grass of Home."

Interment: Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley.
