Rural Perham murder: Pipe wrench reportedly used in brutal killing of mother, son




Cheryl Lee Ackerman, 63, passed away on Dec. 19, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D. Services were held on Dec. 23 at the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home in New York Mills with Pastor Andy Tumberg officiating.

Cheryl Lee Henstorf was born on July 22, 1950 in Perham, to the late Rudolph "Boots" and Frances (Quittschriber) Henstorf. Cheryl graduated from Perham High School with the Class of 1968.

On May 24, 1968, Cheryl was united in marriage with Raymond James Ackerman in Sisseton, S.D. Cheryl and Ray made their home for a short time in Rockville and Cold Spring, Minn. Moving to Perham in 1970, Cheryl was employed with Seller Pottery. In 1976, Cheryl and Ray made their home in Otto Township and began Ackerman Tractor Repair in 1984.

Cheryl enjoyed the art of pottery, gardening, flowers, and had a special love for animals. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Preceding Cheryl in death were her parents and sister, Carol.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Raymond; sister, Paula Henstorf; brother, Gary (Sheila) Henstorf; niece, Jennifer (Mike) McDowe; nephew, Josh Henstorf; great-neice, Reece; many other relatives and a host of friends.
