City hall, Chamber project advances
A bid for nearly $250,000 in city hall remodeling was approved by the Perham City Council June 16.
The project includes remodeling the lower level of city hall, for about $205,000.
The project calls for a complete remodeling of the former city liquor store for Perham Area Chamber of Commerce headquarters, and a new city council chambers.
Diversified Contractors, based in Fargo, was awarded the contract. In addition, the firm was awarded the bid for less extensive remodeling of the upper level of city hall--at $29,000.
With architectural fees,the total project comes in at about $250,000.
The Chamber will be responsible for about $65,000 of the total cost.
The base bid from Diversified Contractors was $198,000. Other bids for the project were:
----JP Structures, with a base bid of $209,000
----Woessner Construction, $214,528 base bid
----Rapp Construction, $236,000
----Bob Bristlin and Son Construction, $228,888.
The project will be financed, in part, by some left-over loan money, which was part of the financing package for the newly-built city liquor store. In addition, an "inter-fund" loan might be tapped from the sewer department.
