Civil War artifacts now on display at ITOW
"Celebrating Minnesota in the 1800s" is the theme of an exhibition on display at the In Their Own Words Veterans Museum now through the end of December.
Included in the exhibit are photographs and artifacts from the Prospect House and Civil War Museum of Battle Lake. The museum houses an extensive collection of Civil War artifacts from James A. Colehour, who settled in Battle Lake shortly after the war.
Also on display are a selection of documents and photographs from the Becker County History Society and a number of articles that belonged to members of the Grand Army of the Republic. The G.A.R. was a veterans' organization that was formed after the Civil War to give support and aid to veterans.
The ITOW Veterans' Museum's winter schedule is Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
