Community Lenten Choir to perform in Perham, NY Mills
The Community Lenten Choir, under the direction of Sheila Childs, will perform “Alpha and Omega,” a musical for Easter, on Palm Sunday, April 13.
The first performance of the day will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills, beginning at 2:30 p.m., with the Trinity Bell Choir, followed by the choir at 3 p.m.
St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Perham will host the second performance of the day, starting at 7 p.m.
Composer Deborah Craig Claar describes “Alpha and Omega” as not just a telling of the Easter story, but a story of redemption.
It incorporates a theme of night turning to day, following four key scriptural events in which darkness turns to light. The final event, taken from Revelation 21, is when Jesus will return and there will be no more night; God will himself be the light.
The Community Lenten Choir has performed a Palm Sunday cantata for the last 32 years as its Easter gift to the local communities.
