Cooks sought for Perham’s first ever BBQ Cook-Off
Organizers of Perham’s first ever BBQ Cook-Off are seeking teams of cooks to compete.
The competition will determine the area’s “best Pit Master in the Perham Lakes Area,” according to flyers.
Hosted by the Perham Lions, the rib cook-off will be held Saturday, Aug. 10 in downtown Perham, rain or shine.
The ribs, along with corn on the cob, beverages, and potentially some chicken wings, will be served to the public at 5 p.m. for as long as supplies last, for about $1 per item.
Prize money will be awarded to the top three teams competing, with first place winning $500, second place $300, and third place $200. The winner of the people’s choice award will receive $500 in Perham Bucks.
All proceeds from the cook-off will go toward Perham Yellowjacket student activities; student volunteers will be helping out at the cook-off.
To enter the competition, or for more information, call Mark Schmidt at 218-298-2368. Application forms may be picked up at Lakes Area Coop, Dean’s Country Market, Service Foods and the Perham Chamber office.
