Copper cable thief convicted
A man who stole copper cable from an Arvig Communications facility in Ottertail has been convicted of theft.
Thomas Allen Heck, 22, Staples admitted to the theft, which occurred Jan. 31. The copper was stolen and sold to a salvage operator for $3,000.
Heck and an accomplice also stole an internet unit and computer attachments from an ACS building in Perham.
Heck was sentenced to 20 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, and restitution.
