Of particular note was the approval for new residential and resort developments at Marion Lake and Clitherall Lake. Meanwhile, permit applications previously sought for projects at Devil's Lake and Mason Lake were withdrawn.

At Marion Lake, the county board approved for Marion Ridge and Lasalle Street Services, LLC a preliminary plat consisting of nine single-family residential lots in Section 5 of Rush Lake Township. Approved at Clitherall Lake was a request from The Church of Jesus Christ and Mike and Laural Blaskowski (Cutler's Cottages). The plan is to operate a resort with three cabins. The owners will construct a private driveway and parking area.

County Land and Resource Director Bill Kalar informed the planning commission that Timberline Properties, LLC withdrew its conditional use permit application for projects at Devil's Lake and Mason Lake. The application has been tabled indefinitely.

Also at last week's county board meeting, a conditional use permit application for Mark and Roger Fenstad received approval. The application was for topographical alterations for landscape-related work prior to new home construction at Big McDonald Lake in Edna Township.

Approved with conditions was an application from William and Karen Rohrich and Gregory and Pam Fordyce. This concerns a conditional use permit to install a driveway to a building site with class five gravel in Section 1 of Edna Township, at Devil's Lake. Appropriate erosion control measures will be implemented.

Tabled until mid-November was a conditional use permit for driveway work and lake access to mitigate erosion in Section 31 of Dora Township, at West Silent Lake. The delay will enable the applicants to provide a stabilization and erosion control plan.
