Funeral services were held for David Roberts, 33, of Duluth, Minn. (formally of New York Mills) on Aug. 13, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Wadena Evangelical Church in Wadena, Minn. with Pastor Thor Sorenson and Pastor Jeff Heisler delivering a message of hope and salvation. The pallbearers were Josh Fellersen, Jared Bachelder, Eric Bachelder, Bobby Roberts, Jeremy Cavalier, and Johnie Barthel. The honorary pallbearers were Darin Roberts, Christopher Baune, Michael Baune and Danny Baune. David was laid to rest in Spruce Grove Union Cemetery, rural Menahga, Minn.

David Michael Roberts was born on Aug. 31, 1980 in Bertha, Minn. His parents were Lynn David Roberts and Lisa Marie (Blachowske) Goldberg. David was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bluffton, Minn. He graduated from New York Mills High School with the class of 1999. David moved to Duluth in 2000, where he was employed as a journeyman carpenter. David was a member of the Carpenters Local 361 for the past 14 years. He was a very gifted, hard-working employee and took pride in his work. David's family can recall him often saying, "You know, Jesus was a carpenter!" David was a member of the Hermantown Community Church. He loved Jesus and had recently rededicated his faith in Jesus Christ with Pastor Thor. He loved his family, and he especially loved his children, nieces and nephew. He enjoyed watching and playing sports, hunting and fishing, four wheeling and snowmobiling. Because of David's high level of ambition, he always had a project that he was working on.

David passed away Aug. 7, 2014 in Duluth, Minnesota at 33 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Proceeding David in death are his grandparents, Rueben and Linda Roberts, and aunt, Gaye Barthel. David is survived by his children: Tanner, Kaleb and Noah; parents: Lynn Roberts of New York Mills and Lisa (Dave) Goldberg of Duluth; sister: Katie (Brian) Hammers of Duluth; grandparents: Lee and Clarice Larimore of New York Mills; Dwane Blachowske of Sioux Falls, S.D.; nieces: Jewel and Jada Hammers; nephew: Adrian Hammers; aunts, uncles, cousins and by many other relatives and a host of friends.
