Dent woman falls victim to scam
A Dent woman is out almost $2,000 as the result of a phone scam.
A person who claimed to be an attorney called the woman, who lives near Star Lake, and asked her to send money to cover her grandson’s cost of a crash and DWI arrest, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim sent the scammer almost $2,000 by money order. She later discovered that her grandson had not been involved in a crash, and reported the scam. The sheriff’s office is investigating.
