DFLers endorse Nettestad for House District 8A
Area DFLers unanimously endorsed Chet Nettestad as their candidate for the Minnesota House of Representatives District 8A in Fergus Falls on Monday night, June 18.
Nettestad is challenging eight-term incumbent, Bud Nornes, from Fergus Falls for the seat.
Dennis Bogen and Steve Nagle spoke in support of Nettestad's nomination, citing his 30 years of military service, his reputation as a community organizer and problem solver, his leadership in the Communication Workers of America and his efforts to help other people, as evidenced by developing the Pool Hall Activity Center in Pelican Rapids and by his Triple Palm Eagle Scout award.
Nettestad told the group that it is vital for the health of democracy that every election brings differing positions and values before the voters. He stressed that it is the duty of state Representatives to represent the people in the district and cast votes that help rural communities grow and flourish.
Nettestad highlighted his areas of priority: ensuring affordable technical education, promoting livable wage jobs, and providing outreach to assist in the sustainability of local communities. He noted how much he appreciates the wide measure of support and encouragement he has received since announcing his candidacy.
New redistricting boundaries define District 8A as including the cities of Fergus Falls, Perham, Vergas, Pelican Rapids, Underwood and most of Battle Lake.
