Doctors close chest of Perham's Gabbard
Doctors were able to close the chest of Perham junior basketball player Zach Gabbard following multiple surgeries, according to his page on the CaringBridge website.
Gabbard collapsed during a game Jan. 20 at Glyndon, Minn. He is currently at Sanford Health in Fargo.
"After two weeks, two heart, two heart surgeries and three attempts of closing his chest, they were finally able to close his chest," according to the journal on his CaringBridge page.
The journal, written at 6:18 p.m. Friday, says the next step is to take him off sedation. He remains on a ventilator and kidney dialysis.
