Father Aaron Kuhn as celebrant. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Ann's Parish Center, with Prayers at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Don passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the age of 83 years.

Donald Hugo Richter was born to Peter and Margaret (Hopp) Richter on May 27, 1930, in Wadena County, Minn.

Don was united in marriage with Margaret Ann Brockpahler on July 15, 1952 in Bluegrass. He honorably served his country during the Korean War from 1951-1953. In 1957 he purchased his dairy farm in Compton Township and resided there until his passing.

Don was a member of Saint Ann's Catholic Church, was regional director of FGBMF and involved in mission trips to Russia, England and Central America. He was elected to the House of Representatives and served three terms from 1984-1990. Don was also an active member of Farm Bureau.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Margaret; siblings, Ray, Bob, Ed, Ellie Roggenkamp; and grandson, Brett Richter.

He is survived by sons, Larry (Ruth), Jerry, Randy (Vicki), of Wadena, Eugene (Sherry) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Kevin of Halstad, Leon (Kathryn) of Ramsey and Chuck (Kay) of Cold Spring; daughters, Cheryl (Joseph) Smith of Blaine and Beth (Paul) Singh of Rogers; 31 grandchildren, two great-grandsons; siblings, Jim (Ginny), Jack (Judy), Arnie (Caroline), Veronica Behmen, Mary Lehmkuhl, Jane (Ervin) Weber and Sophie Roser.

Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren. Active pallbearers are Joshua Richter, Nathan Richter, John-Paul Singh, Leon Ford Richter, John-Mark Singh, John-Luke Singh, Ian Olson and Andrew Richter.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Wadena.
