'Donate Life' benefit planned for Patrick Sibert
Fourteen-year-old Patrick Sibert is in urgent need of a kidney transplant due to chronic kidney failure.
A benefit for Patrick is planned for April 4 at the Wadena Elks Lodge. A free will offering ham dinner will run from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The evening will also include a silent auction and a live auction at 7:30 p.m.
The meal is sponsored by Mason Bros., with matching funds applied for from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Patrick Sibert is the son of Rick and Laura (Snyder) Uselman and Brett Sibert. Patrick's grandfather, John Snyder, worked at Land O' Lakes for 27 years.
Patrick and his family are desperately seeking a donor. Due to unique circumstances, his chance of finding a compatible donor is greatly reduced, with his own family being the least compatible. There is an estimated six percent chance of finding a match for Patrick.
For more information on being a possible donor for Patrick, please call Cathy Garvey, Transplant Center at the U of M, 1-800-328-5465, and give her Patrick's full name and date of birth, 2-24-1994.
Funds raised at the benefit will be used to cover expenses related to expanding the search for a donor and covering medical expenses. Monetary donations can be mailed to: First National Bank, Patrick Sibert Benefit, 25 Bryant Ave. SW, Wadena, MN 56482.
Call 218-371-8333 for more information or to donate auction items. A website has also been set up at www.kidneyforpatrick.com.
